Best of 2010 Awards

Text size: A A

Congratulations to the winning teams that built the projects presented on the following pages. Texas Construction is proud to bring its readers the results of our annual awards competition in this feature dedicated to the 14th annual Best Of program. We also wish to thank our jurors, without whose careful consideration of nearly more than 175 entries the program would not be possible. Our judges were:

• Kim Allen, Associate Director, Construction Industry Institute at UT-Austin, Austin.

• Johnal Bernard II, President/CEO, Associated Builders and Contractors Inc., Southeast Texas Chapter, Nederland.

• Bob Bullis, AIA, LEED AP; Vice President of Programs, AIA Dallas Chapter, Dallas/Fort Worth.

• Megan Felker, CPSM, Dept. of Marketing and Business Development, Jaster-Quintanilla; also President Elect, Society of Marketing Professional Services, Austin Chapter; Austin.

• Charles Graham, Ph.D., AIA, FRICS; Dean of the University of Oklahoma, College of Architecture; also, 2010 President of the American Institute of Architects, Oklahoma Chapter (AIAOK), Norman, Okla.

• Michael M. Holland, CPC, AIC; Executive Vice President; American Council for Construction Education, San Antonio.

• James Smith, P.E., AIC; professor, Department of Construction Science, College of Architecture, Texas A&M University, College Station.

• E. Tyson “Ty” Thomas, P.E., Vice President, Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc., Houston.

The following pages are not only dedicated to the teams that built the best projects in 2010, they are a testimony to the vital and diverse building community in our region.

Entering sounds simple enough. 1) Projects must be located in Texas or Oklahoma; 2) completed in the past year; 3) did not have a construction-related fatality. But the work that goes into the entries themselves is a feat and we acknowledge each firm that took the time to nominate a project. Congratulations again to this year’s winners.
