Danny Miller has been promoted to vice president of LJA Engineering Inc., Austin, Texas. He has been with the firm's land development division for more than six years. Miller has more than 22 years of experience in land development and site development projects throughout the Central Texas area. His experience includes feasibility studies, conceptual planning, cost estimating and construction phase services.

Balfour Beatty Construction has announced several promotions. Juan Rodriguez has been named vice president of public/private projects. He has worked in a variety of roles during his 19 years with the company, most recently as vice president of support services in Balfour Beatty's Dallas office. Kirk Benken, who joined the company in 1995, has been promoted to vice president of operations for Austin and Central Texas. Benken's operations experience spans health care, federal projects and public-private partnerships. Dawn Landry has been appointed director of business development. She joined the firm in July, having spent 20 years in business development, marketing, public relations and economic development roles.

Adam Saphier has been appointed president of central operations for Trammell Crow Co. In this new role, Saphier will continue to lead the firm's Dallas/Fort-Worth business unit as well as oversee its Austin, Houston and Chicago units, including all development and acquisition projects, new business pursuits, finance and operations. Saphier joined Trammell Crow in 2005 and previously served as a managing director of the Dallas/Fort-Worth unit. Adam Nims was promoted to leader of the company's Austin business unit. In this role, he will oversee all development and acquisition projects throughout Austin and central Texas, new business pursuits, finance and overall day-to-day operations. Nims was previously a principal within Trammell Crow's Austin business unit and a senior vice president with the firm's health care initiative in Dallas.

Lane Construction, Justin, Texas announced several staff appointments and promotions. Lawrence G. Hurley has joined as regional vice president of the newly created South Central region. He has 30 years of expertise in the engineering and construction sector. Michael Cote has been named chief development officer, after most recently serving as executive vice president. He will be responsible for large-project business opportunities companywide. Former regional vice presidents Joseph Lark and David Rankin have been promoted to the newly created positions of vice president-pursuits. Lark will focus on public-private partnerships and alternative financing projects, and Rankin will focus on design-build and joint venture bid-build projects. Vijay V. Singh has joined Lane Construction in the new role of director of project finance. He will be involved in the contractor's activities that require knowledge and experience in alternative and innovative project financing approaches.

Corbett Nichter has joined Houston-based Satterfield & Pontikes Construction Inc. as vice president in the contractor's commercial division. He most recently was employed by CF Jordan Construction as managing executive vice president. Prior to that, Nichter worked at Key Construction, Collegiate Development Services and at Turner Construction, where he served as vice president of business development and senior vice president of business development.

Richard Kelley has been appointed director of preconstruction for Cadence McShane Construction, Dallas. His responsibilities will include providing project leadership, budget development and design analyses. Kelley previously served in management positions in Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth and Denver. Srinath Pai Kasturi has been promoted to vice president and general manager of Cadence McShane's Austin office. Kasturi joined the company in 2002.

Don D'Adam has joined Atkins' water infrastructure group in Texas as senior group manager. D'Adam has more than 20 years of experience in project and program management of water, wastewater and stormwater systems, including community involvement and executing large client programs.

Alliance Architects has named two new principals: Thomas M. Maxwell and Chad Michel. Their new roles will include project acquisition, management and delivery. Maxwell will be involved with the strategic positioning of the firm on both a short- and long-term basis and participating and contributing to the overall strategic direction and growth of its operations. He has more than 21 years of architectural design and project management experience. Maxwell joined Alliance Architects in 1994 as senior vice president. Michel brings more than 13 years of architectural design and project management experience to the firm. He joined the firm in 1999 as senior associate.

Tommy Windham has joined AUI Contractors as director of civil construction services. Windham has more than 35 years of civil construction experience, with a focus on completing highway and heavy civil projects. Prior to joining AUI, Windham was the Houston area manager for W.W. Webber LLC.

Sarah Busch and Kyle Condon have been promoted to project executives at Landis Construction Co., New Orleans. Both were previously project managers. Busch has been with Landis for 14 years. Condon has been with Landis for 10 years and has served as project engineer, assistant project engineer and project manager. Busch and Condon will be in charge of all Landis project operations.
