Text size: A A

McKim & Creed, Inc. a Texas-based engineering, geomatics and planning firm, announced that it has purchased the assets of North Carolina-based United Engineering Group, Inc. (UEG), which provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services for the energy, healthcare, higher education, state government, industrial and transportation markets.

The acquisition is effective as of January 1, 2013.

This acquisition will enhance McKim & Creed’s engineering capabilities and services, and strengthen its experience and expertise in the energy, healthcare and educational markets.

“The United Engineering Group acquisition will have little immediate impact on our Texas and Gulf Coast markets. However, the added portfolio of energy and mechanical/electrical related services will provide our existing project managers across the company greater resources as they serve our clients,” says Michael Creed, PhD, PE, Chairman and CEO. “Clearly, energy related consulting for microgrids and LEED existing buildings will receive considerable funding in the coming decade. We will be prepared to add value in those areas.”

Herb McKim, president and chief operations officer of McKim & Creed, also tells ENR Texas & Louisana, “expanding McKim & Creed’s engineering capabilities on a company-wide level benefits our clients in all locations, including Texas. McKim & Creed has a strong culture of resource sharing among our 21 offices, so we can provide these services to clients throughout Texas and the entire Southeastern U.S.”

McKim adds, “we have recently expanded our LiDAR capabilities in Texas, and are currently working with AECOM and the Galveston District Corps of Engineers to provide LiDAR surveys, as well as hydrographic single beam and topographic survey data. We look forward to expanding both our geomatics and engineering services in Texas during the coming year.”
