The funds will be used to rehabilitate existing buildings and treatment components at the existing 162 million-gallons-per-day wastewater treatment plant, as well as approximately 33,440 linear ft of pipe. The authority also proposes to fund engineering costs pertaining to the planning and design of four additional interceptor projects.
In operation since 1960, the wastewater system serves portions of 20 cities and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, covering about 467 sq mi and 1.5 million residents.
