Dallas-based Walton Construction Co. LLC, was awarded a $20.4-million contract to build a defense logistics warehouse and distribution center at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.
The project is a 165,000-sq-ft distribution warehouse that will incorporate a mechanized material handling system. The project is targeted to achieve a LEED Silver certification. Sustainable components include: using local resources, high efficiency energy systems, and materials with a high solar reflective index to minimize heat island effect.
Construction of the logistics warehouse and distribution center began in October and is expected to complete by spring 2011.
The project team includes the owner, United States Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, and architect, MRI Architectural Group, Inc. of Orlando, Fla.
