Exhibit Explores 75 Years of Houston Building

Text size: A A

An exhibition of photographs, models, video and memorabilia will highlight the accomplishments of the contractors who made Houston what it is today.

“Behind the Building: Houston Monuments and the People who Built Them, 1923-2000” will run through Jan. 5 at the Architecture Center Houston, 315 Capitol. The exhibit is organized and presented by the Associated General Contractors History Project to celebrate the work of Houston builders. Co-sponsored by the Houston Architecture Foundation, it is free and open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. -5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. -3 p.m.

The exhibit features 50 building projects covering 75 years that put Houston in the spotlight, including the Astrodome, the first domed sports arena copied in major cities across the U.S.
