Steven Schultz President
ABC South Texas ChapterSchultz says contractors are gearing up, following voter approval in May of a $596-million bond issue, which will fund various local projects. But firms are experiencing pressure on pay rates around San Antonio due to heavy demand for workers on the Eagle Ford shale projects south of the city. Some Associated Builders & Contractors members are reporting a shortage of drivers and heavy equipment operators, he says. "One member had to go out-of-state to find a qualified crane operator," he adds. "It's a real concern around here."
