The PR50, PR75 and PR95 pipe bursting systems are designed to fracture or cut most types of existing pipe - water, sewer or utility. They pull in new pipe with 50, 75 or 95 tons of pullback force, respectively. Upgrading water and sewer infrastructure is said to be cleaner, less disruptive and more affordable.

A variety of cutting tools can burst PVC, clay and other fracturable pipe or cut through steel, ductile iron and cast iron pipe from 4 to 16 in. in diameter. An optional rod make-up device speeds make-up times, makes operation easy and allows flexible setup.

The PRs have a small footprint, which means less disruption and less interference with adjacent utilities. Every PR system is manufactured with heavy-duty frames, cylinders and covers. An accessory kit packed with wrenches and grease is standard. Power packs are fully enclosed. Load-sensing hydraulics allow unit to automatically downshift when a load is introduced and allow higher speeds during makeup and breakout for increased production.

The W42 chassis has a 16,000-lb grand vehicle weight rating. The platform is available with either diesel or gas engine for companies using walk-in trucks. The diesel platform is powered by the International VT 275 V-6 engine coupled to an Allison LCT-1000 electronic five-speed transmission. The gas version has the 6.0L GM Vortec 6000 coupled to GM's 4L80-E Hydromatic electronic transmission with overdrive.

The International diesel engine delivers 200 hp and 440 lbs/ft of torque. Its dual-staged turbocharging system reportedly provides excellent acceleration, using a small turbo for quick, low-speed responsiveness and a second turbo for power at higher RPMs. The International Electro-Hydraulic Generation Two fuel injection system is said to deliver higher injection pressures with precise control, thereby enhancing performance, fuel economy and emissions control.

The GM Vortec 6.0L gas engine has 300 hp and 355 lb/ft.of torque and is 50-state emissions compliant. Maintenance costs are reduced by Texaco DexCool anti-freeze coolant (150,000-mi. service interval), long-life sparkplugs (100,000 mi.) and axles lubed for life.

The D55273 portable gas compressor is a 5.5-hp, 10.5-gal. unit. It offers a new pump with increased air delivery and maximum pressure, allowing more users to work from the same compressor. A cooling system is said to extend pump life, and a roll cage/tank/handle design and two non-flat tires give the unit protection and improved jobsite mobility.

The D55273 has a cast-iron oil lube pump that produces 10.3 standard cu ft per minute at 100 psi, and a 10.5-gal. tank with 150-maximum psi tank pressure, increasing surge air supply. The high air delivery and increased surge supply provide users with the ability to add two additional framing nailers or one additional roofing nailer, allowing contractors to operate a total of seven framing nailers or three roofing nailers from a single compressor at the same time.

The roll cage has a design that protects components from jobsite abuse. The pump is designed with patent pending low oil shut-off to prevent the pump from operating without sufficient oil.
