Texas Companies Still Growing

New hires, promotions and company anniversary celebrations across the Lone Star State.

Yates Construction has added Randy Powell as South Texas Division manager in its San Antonio office. He is responsible for direction, oversight and quality of the estimating, accounting, business development and operations functions. Powell holds both master’s and bachelor’s in business administration from the California State University System. Also brought on to the San Antonio office, Charles “Chuck” Hesselbein, chief estimator, is a Certified Professional Estimator and earned a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Arkansas. Susan Charles has joined as marketing manager. Charles holds a bachelor’s in communications from the California State University System.

Rees Associates Inc. in Dallas has announced Allan R. Parr, AIA has joined as the firm-wide assistant chief operating officer and director of operations. Parr received a bachelor’s of environmental design from Texas A&M University; a master’s of architecture from the University of Texas at Austin; and a master’s of business administration from the University of Phoenix.

Walton Construction Co. LLC’s Dallas division recently announced the following new hires and promotions: Anna Igo has joined as marketing coordinator and estimator. Her responsibilities include assisting with the development of tactical marketing plans, develop project-specific marketing activities, coordinate production of project marketing support materials, and coordinate and supervise preparation of proposals and qualifications. Igo earned her bachelor’s of business administration with emphasis in marketing from the Cox Business School at Southern Methodist University. Matt Nigh has transferred from the St. Louis Division as a project engineer. He will oversee the submittal process for bids and request for information, communicate questions to the design team, assist on-site with the safety team, and assist with the coordination of subcontractors. Nigh earned his bachelor’s of science in construction management from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo. Mike Williams has been promoted to director of pre-construction services. He is directly responsible for all aspects of estimating and business development. He earned his bachelor’s of science in civil engineering from University of Missouri at Rolla, Mo.

Structura Inc. in Austin has added R. Bruce Lowe as operations manager, overseeing operations as well as helping to drive growth in both new and existing markets. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Lowe holds a master’s of science in construction management and a bachelor’s in environmental design and building construction.

Smith Seckman Reid Inc. hired Jared Edwards as project manager and mechanical engineer in the firm’s Dallas office. Edwards will be responsible for the design of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for health care facilities, data centers, laboratory facilities and higher education institutions. Edwards earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University.

Turner Partners Architecture LP of Houston is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The firm’s dedicated team of architects includes R. Gregory Turner, AIA, president; senior partners and executive vice president, Jack A. Duran, AIA; principal emeritus, Thomas Stovall, AIA; vice president/partner, Todd M. Eppenbach, AIA, LEED AP; and senior associate, Alex M. Bernard, AIA.

Ray Wilkerson in Austin was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve a two-year term as Chairman of the Mobility Authority Board. Wilkerson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Texas at Austin.

Hardin Construction Co. has tapped company vice president David Anderson to head up the Austin-based Texas branch office. Anderson is responsible for managing personnel, overseeing all projects, community relations and business development. Anderson is a graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor’s of science degree in building construction.

Fugro Consultants Inc. of Houston has added Anwar Akhtar, P.E. as Construction Materials Engineering and Testing department manager. Akhtar is responsible for the Houston operations of the CMET department. He guides project delivery; service upgrades; quality and safety programming and business development activities. Akhtar holds advanced degrees, master’s of engineering and master’s of science in civil engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station.

HOLT CAT named Brandon Guerra parts manager for its Laredo store. Guerra received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Perkins+Will in Dallas added Agus Rusli, AIA, LEED AP as director of design and associate principal. Rusli received a bachelor’s of science and bachelor’s of architecture from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, and a master’s of architecture with Distinction from Harvard University.
