Cement Council of Texas Names New Director

Richard B. Rogers joins the CCT as director.

The Cement Council of Texas, headquartered in Hurst, has announced the hiring of Richard B. Rogers, P.E., who will serve as director of Concrete Pavements. In his new role, Rogers will provide engineering direction and assistance to the Texas Department of Transportation on its largest concrete pavement projects. Rogers received his master’s of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas and his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Military Institute.

Rees Associates Inc. in Dallas announced the addition of Marc Leediker. Leediker is a graduate of Tulane University with a bachelor’s and a master’s of architecture. In addition, the firm celebrated anniversaries of two staff members: Jay W. Tullis, AIA, celebrated his twentieth anniversary and Mandy Schneider celebrated her fifth year with the company. Rees Associates is one of sixteen Dallas founding partners for the new Dallas Center for Architecture.

Arias & Associates Inc. in San Antonio announced that Spencer A. Higgs, P.E. has joined as project geotechnical engineer. He attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where he earned a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering.

Winstead PC announced the election of new income shareholders in Real Estate Development & Investments including Lorin Combs and Noelle Garsek in Dallas and Josh Lebar in Houston. The company also elected two new members to the firm’s executive committee, Austin shareholder David Dawson and Dallas shareholder John Nolan.

Smith Seckman Reid Inc. announced that Anthony Huebel received his professional engineer licensure. He is a project manager based in the firm’s Houston office, communications consultant and electrical engineer. He also holds a registered communications design distribution certification. Huebel received a master’s in telecommunications from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The firm hired Emigdio Hinojosa, Jr., as a senior plumbing designer in the Houston office. Hinojosa is responsible for the design of plumbing and fire protection.

McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. has made three new hires in its Dallas office. John Cruz will serve as the CAD specialist for the firm’s Texas division. Cruz will be responsible for developing 3-D drawings for self-performed formwork, overseeing site logistics and creating construction models for coordination. Cruz graduated with an associate’s of applied science in CAD Technology from ITT Technical Institute. Marc Robertson was brought on as the pre-construction director for the firm’s Texas Division. Robertson will be responsible for developing bid strategy and leading and executing the entire bid process for negotiated and bid work. He graduated from Eureka College with a bachelor’s in physical science and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in construction. Laura Collins will join the Dallas office as training manager for the firm’s Texas Division. Collins will be responsible for continuing to develop and manage peer group training, identifying exemplary internal and external training resources and utilizing needs analyses to ensure relevant training is offered. Collins graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s in social work and a master’s of education from The University of North Texas in Denton.

The Dunaway Associates’ Dallas office has added Mark G. Goode, III, P.E., as office manager and senior traffic engineer. Goode holds a master’s of science in engineering and a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering from the University of Texas.

Jaster-Quintanilla announced that its managing principal in Dallas, Stephen H. Lucy, P.E. was named an Honorary Member of the Texas Society of Architects. Lucy was recognized for his leadership and voluntary contribution of time to improve civic structures in the Dallas community.

Mayse & Associates Inc.’s Dallas office announced the hiring of Wm. Michael Schotte as project architect and the promotions of Valerie Nichols to project manager and Christopher Cooper to senior project manager. The following achievements were also announced: Michael R. Mayse, the firm’s founder and president, recently earned the LEED Accredited Professional certification and Dan Kazachki recently passed the Architectural Registration Exam and the California Bar Exam and has been promoted to project architect.

Control Technology and Solutions’ Dallas office announced that Roger Thibodeau has joined the firm as an account executive.

Collegiate Development Services LP, based in Irving, announced that Joseph Rende has joined the firm as vice-president of Development and Pre-Construction. Joseph holds a graduate certificate in commercial real estate development from the University of Texas at Arlington, a master’s of liberal arts from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor’s of arts from Southern Methodist University.

Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed Linda "Diane" Steinbrueck to the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. The board regulates the practice of architecture, landscape architecture and interior design throughout the state. Steinbrueck received a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University. The governor reappointed Martin "Marty" J. Garza to the Industrialized Building Code Council. The council oversees the inspection of industrialized housing and buildings to ensure that state standards are enforced. Garza received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University.
