Professionals Receive Honors, Firms Welcome Associates

Nunzio De Santis of HKS is welcomed into the AIA College of Fellows, and Good, Fulton & Farrell promotes six.

The AIA College of Fellows has selected Nunzio De Santis, executive principal at HKS Inc., for election to its ranks. De Santis is founder of HKS's hospitality group and executive principal/director of the HKS Hill Glazier Studio.


Good Fulton & Farrell announced the promotion of six new principals to the ownership team. Tammy Chambless, AIA, joined Good Fulton & Farrell in 1984 and leads a studio of nine architects. Lawrence Cosby, AIA, leads a studio of 15 architects. Brian William Kuper, AIA, focuses primarily on the first phases of design for all projects at Good Fulton & Farrell. His team designs HD resolution building animations and photorealistic three-dimensional renderings. Rick Myers, AIA, manages the firm's recruiting and hiring program. Jonathan P. Rollins, AIA, leads the firm's institutional practice. Rollins is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Graduate School of Design. Scott Sower, AIA, CCCA, leads a studio of 17 architects. Sower's practice focuses on large mixed-use projects and dealerships.


Boyken International announced the addition of two members to the company's Houston project management team. Garry Walker and Krisa Thomas will provide support for Boyken International's Lodge at Rancho Mirage by The Ritz-Carlton. Walker holds bachelor's of science and master's in science in construction management from Colorado State University. Thomas received her bachelor's of art in sociology from the University of Colorado after earning an associate of art degree in French and Spanish from Western Nebraska Community College.


JE Dunn South Central's Houston Office has added Kamal Ariss as vice president of business development and marketing. Ariss holds a master's in science of land development and a bachelor's of science in building construction from Texas A&M University.


KBR announced Cedric Burgher, chief financial officer and senior vice president, has resigned. Charles "Chip" Schneider has been appointed interim chief financial officer, while the search for Burgher's successor is conducted. Schneider joined KBR in August 2006 and has served as the company's vice president and treasurer.


The Cherry Cos. has named Joseph Rizzo director of business development. In his new role, Rizzo will be responsible for sales, public relations and marketing for Cherry corporate. Rizzo, previously a firefighter and paramedic, attended the University of Texas Paramedic School, San Jacinto College and Houston Community College.


McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. announced the promotion of Kyle Masters to business development manager for the firm's Texas Division. Masters will be responsible for marketing and business development efforts within Texas and will be focusing on the heavy civil markets. Masters graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's of business administration in marketing.


Carlson Restaurants Worldwide announced the promotion of Bill O'Keefe to vice president of real estate and construction. O'Keefe, who will report directly to Chris

Devlin, vice president development, will focus on facilities and new store opening construction and will oversee real estate for corporate new store development.


Texas Fifth Wall Roofing Systems Inc. recently welcomed Jerry Craig as its service manager. Craig has more than 23 years of roofing experience.


C.F. Jordan Construction’s San Antonio office has added two project managers and one project superintendent to its staff; they are: Jack Janicke, Sherman Tapley and David Flores. In the construction industry for more than 36 years, Janicke has experience with an extensive range of projects. Tapley has nine years of commercial experience. Flores, named project superintendent, has 37 years of experience that includes the restoration of historic buildings, hotel and federal projects.


SHW Group has recently added two employees to its Austin studio; Scott Wilcox and Joshua Lee, LEED AP. Wilcox's responsibilities include operations, staff and financial management. He received his master's in business administration from Mercer University in Atlanta. Lee has joined the firm as an intern architect. He received his master's in architecture with an emphasis on sustainable design from the University of Texas at Austin.


HDR Architecture Inc. announced that Tom Braud, AIA, has joined as vice president and senior health-care planner in the Houston office. Braud is a registered architect in the state of Texas and holds a bachelor's of architecture from Louisiana State University.


Intertech Flooring announced that its San Antonio-based design consultant Anne McHugh has achieved the LEED Accredited Professional designation through the U.S. Green Building Council.


Susman Tisdale Gayle annoumced that Brock Rindahl, AIA, has recently rejoined the firm as an associate in the Healthcare Division. Rindahl graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor's of science in interior design and an emphasis in architecture.


Collegiate Development Services LP recently welcomed Corbett R. Nichter as senior vice president. He is responsible for leading the business development team and overseeing its project portfolio. Corbett received a bachelor's of science in civil engineering from Texas A&M University and master's in business administration from Houston Baptist University.


Gilbane Building Co. has made three new additions to its team. R. Lee Derr joins the North Texas office as a senior project manager. Shell Buckner is responsible for all MEP estimating activities in the North Texas office and the Southwest Region and Sina Yi has moved from the Houston office as an accountant level II.


Spawglass has announced that Mark W. Harrington joined the firm as a senior project manager, with responsibility for business development in the Austin region. Harrington will work to identify new clients in the Austin region.


FKP Architects Inc. has announced the promotions of Alan Black, AIA; Anne

Jackson Mullins, AIA, NCARB, RAS; and Joseph Maytum, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, to vice president. Black has more than 16 years in health-care programming, design and planning. Mullins brings more than 20 years of broad experience in project management, facility planning and production management to her new position. Maytum has more than 15 years of expertise in health-care programming, design and urban planning.


Perkins+Will has named Ron Harris, AIA, NCARB, as specification manager for its Houston office. Harris received a bachelor's of architecture from Louisiana State University.


H2M HILL announced that Philip Yerby has joined the firm as Texas Civil Infrastructure director. In his new role, Yerby will work with CH2M HILL's transportation and water regional business groups and global leadership. Yerby received his bachelor's of science in civil engineering from Kansas State University.
