Power-Industry Leader Tip Goodwin Joins
PBS&J in Dallas
Goodwin will serve as the technical
lead for the firm's electric transmission design team.
Edwin "Tip" Goodwin
has joined PBS&J, and will
lead the firm's electric transmission design team. Goodwin
is an industry-recognized professional with more than 30 years
of experience in design, construction, operation, maintenance
and research associated with electric transmission and distribution
facilities.
Goodwin is a leader in the electric utility and power industry,
having senior-level experience with two major electric utilities,
consulting firms and most recently with the Electric Power
Research Institute. As technical lead for PBS&J's electric
transmission design team, Goodwin brings a proven reputation
as a team builder, leader and motivator capable of organizing
diverse groups with varying needs and interests in order to
achieve client goals and objectives. He has authored numerous
technical reports, magazine articles and technical papers
and served as speaker for industry group seminars and presentations.
Goodwin will be based in PBS&J's Dallas office.
CH2M HILL recently announced
that Thomas Burke has joined
the firm's Transportation Business Group as a vice president
and senior client service manager in the firm's Dallas office.
Burke will be responsible for helping to expand the firm's
business in North Texas focusing on conventional and alternative
project delivery approaches, including design-build on public-private
partnerships. Among the clients that Burke will be working
directly with are TxDOT, North Texas Tollway Authority, North
Texas Cities and Counties and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit,
as well as concession-fee-development companies and design-build
construction contractors.
Prior to joining CH2M HILL, Burke served as senior vice president
and principal-in-charge at Turner Collie & Braden Inc.,
where he provided overall direction of the firm's transportation,
public works, water resources, environmental and land development
engineering practices and helped to grow the firm into a major
regional practice.
Burke received his bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering
from the University of Illinois and is a registered professional
engineer in the state of Texas. His professional affiliations
include serving as the current vice chair of the American
Council of Engineering Companies.
Skanska USA Building Inc. has
named Chris Carruth vice president
of business development. Carruth will be based in the Temple
office.His responsibilities include managing the sales and
marketing program for the Central Texas area.
Carruth brings more than 20 years of experience working in
the construction industry. His most recent position was vice
president of business development for Hardin Construction
Company in Atlanta, Ga.
Jeffrey Stocks has joined Teal
Construction Co. as chief financial officer and general
counsel. Stocks has more than 20 years of financial, legal
and operational experience.
Stocks received his bachelor's of science. in accounting
from Duke University. He received a J.D. from South Texas
College of Law, where he was the valedictorian and editor-in-chief
of the law review. Stocks also attended London School of Economics
and Political Science, where he received a master's of laws
in international business law.
LJA Engineering & Surveying Inc.
recently announced the promotions of
Barbara Foss and David Tinney,
as well as the addition of Paul Bright.
Barbara Foss has been promoted to vice president of marketing.
She has more than 25 years of experience in the marketing
of professional engineering services to public and private
sector clients. Foss has been with LJA for 23 years. In her
new position, responsibilities include directing the firm's
marketing programs and strategic plan. Foss is a graduate
of the University of Texas at Austin. David Tinney, PE, has
been promoted to vice president of the Houston Land Development
Division. Tinney joined LJA in 1991, and has served as senior
project manager and engineer for a number of master-planned
communities and site development projects within the Greater
Houston. With more than 20 years experience as a civil engineer
serving public and private clients, Tinney has been involved
in roadway and bridge design and maintenance for MUDs. Tinney
is a graduate of Texas Tech University. Paul Bright, PE, RPLS,
has joined LJA as senior project manager in the firm's Houston
Public Infrastructure Division. Bright has more than 20 years
of experience on various transportation projects. Prior to
joining LJA, he designed numerous roadway projects for Harris
County, TxDOT, HCTRA, FBCTRA and private entities. His responsibilities
have included project coordination, preliminary engineering
reports, construction phase services, right-of-way determination,
preparing project budgets and contracts, invoicing and monitoring
of project costs. In his new role, he will manage the design
of highway and turnpike design projects for TxDOT, toll-road
authorities and through comprehensive development agreements.
Bright is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.
