Texas A&M honored Gary Boyd
with an outstanding alumni award and A&M alum D. Wayne
Klotz was recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Gary Boyd,
executive vice president of Houston-based 3D/International
and chief development office, has received the Outstanding
Alumni Award from the Texas A&M University College of
Architecture. The purpose of the award is to recognize and
honor former students for their excellence in professional
leadership and contributions to society; to promote better
awareness of these achievements; to promote closer association
between alumni, faculty and students; and to promote the development
of future support from alumni.
Boyd has managed construction projects
totaling $3.5 billion. He is also responsible for driving
3D/I's marketing initiatives which produce more than $100
million in sales each year through the company's 14 U.S. offices.
Boyd is a member of 3D/I's board of directors
and executive committee, the American Institute of Architects
and the Texas Society of Architects. He is also a Paul Harris
Fellow with the Rotary Club of Houston.

D. Wayne Klotz, president of
consulting engineering firm Klotz Associates Inc., was recently
awarded the 2004 John A. Focht, Jr. Citizen Engineer Award
by the Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The award is presented annually to an outstanding individual
whose volunteer efforts "better the world through local
or national legislation, education on all levels, non-profit
volunteer organizations, community activities or through other
avenues." The award was first presented in 1990 to recognize
John A. Focht, Jr.'s outstanding leadership and service and
continued dedication to the Texas Section of the American
Society of Civil Engineers.
Klotz received a bachelor's of science in civil engineering
from Texas A&M University and a master's of science in
civil engineering from the University of Houston.
He has held leadership positions with the American Society
of Civil Engineers, Texas Council of Engineering Companies
and Harris County Flood Control Task Force and currently serves
on the board of directors for the Houston-Galveston Coastal
Subsidence District.
With a staff of 90 professionals and offices in Houston,
San Antonio, Austin and Lufkin, Klotz Associates provides
transportation, traffic, water and sewer, aviation, drainage
and land development services.

Thomas J. D'Arcy, Consulting
Engineers Group principal, was saluted as a Titan of the precast
concrete industry recently at the Precast Concrete Institute's
50th Anniversary convention.
D'Arcy was also elected the Institute's 2005 chairman.
The Titan Award designation was limited to 50 persons, 32
living and 18 deceased, covering the institute's 50 year history.
"These are the people," "who, through their
pioneering spirit, and at times dogged determination, have
made major contributions to building an industry, said current
PCI Chairman Fred W. Heldenfels, IV. "Tom D'Arcy, a former
PCI Medal of Honor winner, founded CEG's San Antonio office
and has designed and built more than 300 parking structures,
100 prisons and 15 major sports stadiums during his 44 years
in the industry."

Roy R. Grant has joined Houston-based
Fugro Consultants LP, a geotechnical and construction materials
engineering and testing firm at their Dallas office as a senior
materials engineer. Grant has more than 30 years experience
in geotechnical and construction materials engineering and
testing. During his career, he has served clients as a field
and laboratory technician, project manager and senior consultant
in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming and North Africa. Grant
is a member of Texas Society of Professional Engineers and
National Society of Professional Engineers.
Mike Miller has joined the
Chicago-based executive-search firm the Carlyle Group as a
principal in its Construction Practice Division. With the
hiring of Miller, the Carlyle Group is expanding its services
and opening an office in Dallas.
Miller joins Todd Justic, who founded Carlyle Group's Construction
Practice seven years ago. Miller and Justic will be responsible
for expanding the Construction Practice Division nationally
to include executive recruiting for general contracting, development,
design-build and construction management.
Prior to joining Carlyle Group, Miller worked as a managing
partner with Kaye/Bassman International, an executive-search
firm in Dallas where he serviced prominent commercial general
contracting companies, specialty contractors and real estate
developers.
