Texas Educator, Architect Moves North for Next Role
Graham departs Texas A&M as new dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Architecture.
Charles W. Graham, award-winning educator and architect whose specialties include residential design and construction, has been named dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Architecture. Graham goes to OU from Texas A&M University, where he is the executive associate dean of the College of Architecture and the holder of the History Maker Homes Endowed Professorship in Residential Construction and Visualization Research. Graham earned his bachelor’s of architecture with honors from Texas Tech University, master’s of arts in environmental management from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a doctor of philosophy in urban and regional science from Texas A&M University. Graham will succeed Bob Fillpot, who has served as dean of the College of Architecture since 1998.
Walker Parking Consultants announced that Derek J. Soltes, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the team in the Houston office as a project manager. He will be responsible for the management and planning of projects, as well as provide architectural and sustainability consulting on all projects from the Houston office. Soltes holds a master’s of architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture and a bachelor’s of environmental design from Texas A&M University.
Jordan Construction announced that Dave Baer was promoted to executive vice president of the San Antonio office. Baer received a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Syska Hennessy Group has named Alan Dash associate partner. He will provide information technology consulting services to Syska Hennessy’s health-care clients nationwide as part of the firm’s Technology Group. Dash holds a bachelor’s of science degree in business management from the University of Phoenix.
Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. has announced that Daniel Krueger, P.E., will join the firm as a senior project manager with its Transit Business Group. Krueger graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and holds a master’s of science in engineering degree in construction management from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
FKP Architects Inc. announced that Wayne Marchand, AIA, ACHA, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Rice Design Alliance. As a senior principal and member of FKP’s board of directors, Marchand leads the firm’s strategic agenda and corporate operations.
T. howard + associates of Dallas has acquired Wells Janousek Architects, bringing principals, Mike Wells, AIA, NCARB and
Larry Janousek, AIA, and staff to the firm.
Turner Partners Architecture LP named David B. Morris, AIA, a partner and vice president. He oversees the construction phase activity for the firm and provides quality control leadership throughout project development. Morris is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
Hill International announced that Richard L. Rye, PMP, CCM, has joined the firm as senior vice president and Texas regional manager for Hill’s Project Management Group. He earned his bachelor’s of science in engineering science from Arkansas Tech University and his master’s of science in program management from George Washington University.
Skanska USA Building Inc. announced the promotion of Brian Freeman to area general manager for the company’s Texas operations. Freeman received a building construction degree from Auburn University.
LJA has added Donald W. Francis, PE, as senior project manager. Francis is a graduate of Memphis State University with a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering. Curtis H. Villarreal, PE, also joined LJA as construction department manager. Villarreal is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering.
F&S Partners Inc. announced the election of a new president, Robert L. Shaw, Jr., AIA, and the appointment of three principals, J. Kip Jameson, AIA, Jay H. Rambo, AIA, and Michael D. Voit, AIA, LEED AP.
Baird, Hampton and Brown Inc. announced the addition of new associates: Ian Bost, P.E., John Margotta, R.P.L.S., and Richard Watters, P.E. Bost holds a bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University and is a project manager. Margotta currently leads the survey efforts for the Fort Worth office. Recently named a 2008 Consulting Specifying Engineer’s 40 under 40, Watters holds a master’s of science in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University and a bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas, El Paso.
Broaddus & Associates announced the addition of Brenda Jenkins as its Austin area manager. She will serve in both business development and operational roles. Jenkins earned a bachelor’s of construction science and a master’s of construction management, both from Texas A&M University.
Pate Engineers appointed vice president Keith E. Young, P.E. as director to Pate’s board of directors. Young received a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
Equipment Collaborative has added Britton Coffman as project manager. Coffman holds a bachelor’s of arts from Centenary College of Louisiana.
O’Neill Hill and Associates announced the promotions of Michael Kopecky, AIA, and Tiffany Lee, IIDA to senior associates. Kopecky works with clients and team members ensuring quality and consistency throughout project construction. Kopeky holds a bachelor’s of architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington. Lee holds a master’s of fine arts as well as a bachelor’s of interior design from the University of Houston.
