Texas Wall Systems Acquired by Oldcastle

The leading glass company acquired the Dallas-based firm and launched an engineered products division.

Oldcastle Acquires Texas Firm

Oldcastle Glass, a subsidiary of CRH plc, a leading international building materials and products company based in Dublin, Ireland, announced recently that it acquired Dallas-based Texas Wall Systems Inc., a leading provider of high-performance curtain-wall systems and engineering services for commercial, institutional and multi-story condominium construction.

Texas Wall Systems will become part of Oldcastle Glass' new Engineered Products division, which was created by incorporating several Oldcastle Glass companies into one unit. Included in the new division are recently acquired Fulton Windows of Toronto, Ontario; Southwest Aluminum Systems of Chandler, Ariz.; and Oldcastle Glass Retail Storefronts of Austin. Oldcastle Glass Engineered Products has six operating locations that manufacture a complete line of high-performance fenestration products including architectural-rated operable windows, custom-engineered curtain walls, commercial and retail storefronts and glass doors and related hardware.


Gulf Awarded Pipeline Project

Gulf Interstate Engineering Co. of Houston recently announced the award of a contract with Rockies Express Pipeline LLC to provide project management, engineering, procurement and construction management support services on the Rockies Express Pipeline Project. Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP and Sempra Pipelines & Storage, a unit of Sempra Energy, have partnered together to build the Rockies Express Pipeline, a proposed 1,323-mi., 42-in. diameter pipeline that will originate in Weld County, Colo. and extend to Monroe County, Ohio.

The Rockies Express Pipeline will be the largest U.S.-built natural gas pipeline in more than 20 years, supplying gas to markets in the Midwest and Northeast.


STV Reorganizes Operations

STV has restructured and reorganized its organization as part of a continuing national mission to optimize performance, quality and client satisfaction. The firm provides engineering, architectural, planning, environmental and construction management services throughout the U.S., with full-service offices in Dallas and Houston. The company's operations have been reorganized into three principal divisions, each with a national mission: Building and Facilities; Transportation and Infrastructure; and Construction Management.


RSC Opens in Weatherford

RSC Equipment Rental recently opened a new store in Weatherford. Rental Service Corp. is a company within the Atlas Copco Group.

The new facility is situated on two acres and provides customers with access to a fleet size of $3 million and more than 9,000 sq. ft. of office and showroom space.

"We are bringing a diverse, young fleet of rental equipment to a growing town, providing local contractors with the reliable equipment and focused service they need to remain productive," said Nathan James, store manager.


TEREX Reederill Inks Joint Venture

TEREX Reedrill recently signed a joint venture agreement with Construcciones Mecanicas LLamada of Barcelona, Spain, to develop, manufacture, market and sell foundation auger drills in North America.

The drills will be marketed under the Terex Reedrill / LLamada name. As part of the joint venture, future plans are to manufacture the products for the North American market at TEREX Reedrill's plant in Denison.

The companies are working together in development of a complete range of auger drill products for the North American construction industry.


LGH Corp. Expands Houston Facility

Lifting Gear Hire Corp. is tripling the size of its Houston warehouse, turning it into a fully functioning rental and sales facility. The expanded building is planned to be 35,000 sq. ft. with a 20,000-sq.-ft. yard. A 350-ton horizontal pull-test bed will be housed at the site, allowing for the testing of rental gear and the maintenance of customer equipment. The location will also include a 25-ton vertical hoist test stand.

"The demand for products in the LGH product line, as well as the MaxiBar product, has resulted in the need for a larger warehouse to store existing MaxiBar equipment and to stock a full range of LGH products and capacities," said Tony Fiscelli, general manager of Lifting Gear Hire Corp.'s headquarters, located in Bridgeview, Ill. "The expansion of the Houston facility allows us to better serve our clients with the space to feature our entire product range and to accommodate our customers' equipment service needs."

The Houston warehouse will continue to be the main U.S. storage area for LGH Modular Lifting Beams, including the new 600-ton capacity model. Three overhead crane bays will handle large MaxiBar / Modular Lifting Beams and other oversized equipment.
