Extreme Truck Unveiled in Garland

International Truck and Engine Corp. introduced its new International CXT, Commercial Extreme Truck, in Garland, where the trucks will be manufactured.

The new CXT is being marketed to businesses such as construction, brick or stone contractors, homebuilders, carpenters, landscape designers and roofers.

World's Biggest Production Pickup Truck to be Manufactured in Garland

The International Truck and Engine Corp. recently introduced its new International CXT, Commercial Extreme Truck. The company says the truck, with a price tag starting at around $93,000, is the "world's biggest production pickup truck for commercial business owners. "

International, the operating company of Navistar International Corp. and a leading truck manufacturer, officially unveiled the International CXT in September at its plant in Garland.

"The International CXT brings new meaning to 'everything is big in Texas,'" said Garland Mayor Bob Day. "There is nothing on the road as bold, strong and tough as this truck, and we are delighted that International Truck and Engine Corp. will manufacture it here in Garland."

Born out of a 20-ton hauler and other International severe service trucks used by the construction, government and waste industries, the International CXT is built on the same platform as dump trucks and snowplows. It hauls three times the payload of consumer pickup trucks, is all-wheel drive, uses air brakes and offers towing, dumping and tilt-bed capability.

"The International CXT is a truck for businesses that want to promote themselves as much as perform," said Rob Swim, director, vehicle center marketing strategy, International Truck and Engine Corp. "While there is nothing tougher or more extreme on the market than the International CXT, it is as much a statement of success as it is performance. If you brought this truck to the playground, you'd be king of the dirt pile."

Crown Equipment Expanding in Metroplex

Binswanger Real Estate recently announced the acquisition of 8.8 acres of land in Arlington for Crown Equipment Corp..

Crown already has operations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and is expanding its regional sales and service branch into Arlington, along the Interstate 20 corridor, investing $3.5 million in the region. The company expects to begin construction early next year and open the facility by the end of the year.

"Crown needed to expand its business and couldn't do so at its existing facility," said J. Holmes Davis, IV, senior vice president of Binswanger, who represented Crown in the search for the new site. "This new location is ideal. It's one of the most visible sites in the Metroplex, current employees will be able to commute and the price was attractive."

Crown Equipment Corp. is known for its product design, engineering and manufacturing of a line of electric lift trucks.

Liebherr and John Deere Sign Exclusivity Agreement

Liebherr Construction Equipment Co. recently announced the signing of an agreement between Liebherr-Werk Telfs GMBH and John Deere's Construction & Forestry Division of Moline, Ill., to end their current dual-branding strategy for large crawler dozers sold in the North American market and to grant John Deere an exclusivity agreement for these products.

Under an agreement signed in December 2000, Liebherr has provided large crawler dozers and crawler loaders under both the Liebherr and John Deere brands. The new agreement will grant John Deere exclusivity for the two large Deere crawler dozers, the 234 hp 950C and the 330 hp 1050C. This agreement contains specific market goals for the John Deere-branded large crawler dozers, and as a result, Liebherr will discontinue marketing the comparable PR 742 and PR 752 in North America except for mining applications.

"This new agreement provides the North American dealer coverage necessary to increase market share for Liebherr's superior technology in large crawler dozers while focusing our Liebherr brand on the product range representing the strength of our Liebherr dealer organization, " said Duane Wilder, president of Liebherr Construction Equipment Co.

Two crawler loader models in the original agreement, Liebherr LR 622, LR 632 and the John Deere 655C, 755C will continue to be marketed through their respective North American dealer channels. Liebherr-Werks Telfs will continue to manufacture both product lines.
