McCarthy To Construct Baylor Parking Structure

Dallas-based McCarthy Building Cos. broke ground in August for a new 1,170-vehicle, 360,000-sq.-ft. design/build parking facility located on the east side of the Baylor University campus in Waco.

The $9.9 million, four-level parking structure will feature a detailed exterior façade, creating the look similar to an office or education building. Exterior precast wall panels will be used to support the parking decks and serve as backup for the masonry veneer system.

Scheduled for completion in August 2004, the architect and engineering firm for the east campus parking facility is Carl Walker Inc. of Dallas.

The garage is the second such structure built by McCarthy at Baylor. The company recently completed a four-level, 1,195-vehicle design/build structure for the university that houses parking, office and shell space.

Hisaw To Build 3 New Schools From Frisco ISD

Carrollton based Hisaw & Associates General Contractors Inc. was recently awarded a $26 million contract to build three new elementary schools for the Frisco Independent School District.

Frisco generally uses the pod design in order to maximize district dollars. However, each new school will include a layout modification with the library being the central focal point.

The Dallas office of Corgan Associates Inc. is providing architectural services for the projects.

The single-story distribution facility features a 24-ft. clear height to accommodate storage systems used in the distribution of packing materials, boxes, plastic wrapping and other packaging products.

Eight external docks and one drive-in door facilitate the movement of products throughout the facility.
