Nevlud Named Executive Vice President of Houston AGC
Nevlud is the fifth person to fill
the position in the chapter's 80-year history.

Houston AGC Appoints New Executive Vice
President
The board of directors of the Houston
Chapter Associated General Contractors of America recently
appointed Jerry Nevlud as its executive vice president. Nevlud
is the fifth person to fill the position in the chapter's
80-year history.
Nevlud's predecessor, Pat Kiley, recently retired from the
position he held since 1988. Kiley was honored by the Houston
AGC at its APEX 6 gala as the sixth recipient of the chapter's
prestigious Master Builder award.
"What a privilege it has been for me to serve as the
understudy of Pat Kiley for the past four years," Nevlud
wrote in the fall issue of Cornerstone, the quarterly magazine
of the Houston AGC.
Nevlud joined the chapter in May 2000 as executive director
of contractor development and has functioned as the chapter
operations manager for the past two years.
He brings a blend of industry knowledge, business management
experience and communications expertise to the role. He has
a bachelor's of journalism from the University of Texas.
After graduation, he joined the Marek Family of Companies,
ultimately serving as their division president in Austin.
He also has experience in publishing and has been the vice
president of a health-care organization and an executive with
a building-supply company.
Seibold Elected President
of CMAA
Joseph L. Seibold, vice president, principal of Carter &
Burgess Inc., is the new president of the Construction Management
Association of America. He was elected during the association's
National Conference in San Antonio in September.
Based in the company's Los Angeles office, Seibold has more
than 30 years of project management, construction management
and claims consulting experience. He has managed construction,
supervised evaluation of construction-related claims on major
public and private projects, and helped to resolve disputes
on behalf of both owners and contractors.
Seibold has served on the CMAA board of directors for six
years and has been active in the Southern California chapter.
He has devoted particular energy to promoting the Construction
Manager Certification program. He has also been co-chair of
the membership committee and served on both the owners and
CM eJournal committees.
"CMAA has, and must continue, to represent the professionalism
and leadership that forms the core of our professional industry,"
Seibold said.
2004-2005 NAWIC National President Installed
The National Association of Women in Construction recently
installed Nancy A. Eaton as its 50th national president during
its Annual Meeting and Convention in New York City. Eaton
is CFO for Las Vegas-based Par-3 Landscape & Maintenance
Inc.
Immediate past president, Luci H. Roberts of Round Rock,
will continue to serve on NAWIC's board of directors.
Eaton became a member of the Las Vegas Chapter of NAWIC in
1986, serving as chapter president, director and treasurer.
She later served as a national director of Region 12, which
encompasses southern California, Hawaii and Las Vegas. Eaton
has participated on the National Executive Committee in the
following capacities: treasurer, 2000-2002; vice president,
2002-2003; and president-elect, 2003-2004.
Founded in Fort Worth in 1955, NAWIC is an international
association serving approximately 5,800 members in nearly
200 chapters in the United States and Canada.
ASCE Elects New Officers
The American Society of Civil Engineers recently announced
the election of Dennis R. Martenson as its new president-elect.
Martenson is a consulting environmental engineer and senior
project manager for CDM in St. Paul, Minn.
He will be installed as president next year.
Other positions on the 2004 election ballot included two
zonal vice presidents and seven district directors. One Texan
was among them-T. Anthony Reid, a consultant from Meridian.
Reid will represent sections and branches in New Mexico, Texas,
Oklahoma, Hawaii and Mexico.
AEM Elects 11 New Members
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers recently elected
11 companies to membership in the international trade group
for companies that manufacture and market agriculture and
construction-related equipment and services.
The new AEM companies include one Texas-based firm: D &
H Equipment Ltd. of Blanco, manufacturer of asphalt plants.
