Texas Children’s West Campus

Project Cost: $155,000,000

Texas Children’s West Campus

The first community pediatric hospital to be built in the greater Houston area, the new Texas Children’s West Campus will be among the largest suburban pediatric hospitals in the nation when completed in 2010. The initial phase of construction will include a 294,000-sq-ft hospital that can accommodate up to 96 inpatient beds and 220,000 sq ft of ambulatory care and medical office space. Other patient-care spaces include operating suites and a 24/7 emergency department.

The new facility, located on 55 acres in West Houston in a park-like setting, will incorporate interior and exterior evidence-based design elements that promote healing such as natural light, views of water and nature, play areas and outdoor spaces for patient and family use. Each patient room is being designed to offer an expansive view of the outdoors and to provide families with calming, comfortable spaces in the room. Sustainable design concepts will be incorporated throughout the campus.
