Texas A&M Health Science Center at Round Rock
PROJECT COST: $55,000,000
Texas A&M Health Science Center at Round Rock is the first building of a master planned campus for Texas A&M University. The project includes educational and clinic space, a simulated-patient training center and administrative offices. At more than 27,000 sq ft, the clinic space houses Lone Star Circle of Care, a Williamson County non-profit organization serving the underinsured and uninsured.
The exterior skin is a mix of cast stone, natural stone, brick and metal wall panels. The interior features East Indian Rosewood veneer wall covering, custom millwork and terrazzo flooring.
A rotunda serves as the hub between the two wings providing lobby space and means of connectivity both vertically and horizontally. This space features a monumental stair with custom white concrete mix, terrazzo treads and custom curved glass railing. Timing the installation of the stair is a critical element due to space limitations and adjacent work activities.
Due to the aggressive nature of the schedule, the first level interior was 95% framed before the fourth level of the structure was complete.
