George Ranch High School, Antoinette Reading Junior High
PROJECT COST: $94,585,174
The Lamar Consolidated ISD’s George Ranch Complex is a 129-acre site located outside of Richmond, Texas. The new master-planned complex includes the new George Ranch High School and the new Antoinette Reading Junior High School. It is also the future site of a new sixth grade center.
The land utilized by the new George Ranch Complex was sold to LCISD by the George Foundation, which manages and operates the George Ranch Historical Park. The new schools were designed with the ranch’s history and defining architectural character in mind. During architectural design charrette meetings with LCISD faculty and staff, George Foundation representatives and community members, architects adapted the footprint of an existing LCISD high school and junior high to the George Ranch site.
Using architectural language from one of the original schools constructed on the George Ranch property — showcasing the area’s traditional white exterior walls and red rooftops — the campus concept developed into a design that expresses its unique “place” in the community.
