Cadence McShane Completes Athletic Complex
Cadence McShane Corp. recently announced the completion of the new $5 million athletic complex for The Parish Episcopal School. The new high school complex is located on 50 acres of the former Exxon/Mobil Technology Center in Farmers Branch.

The assignment included the construction of a new 25,000-sq.-ft., 400-seat gymnasium and the completion of the school's outdoor football, baseball, softball and soccer fields. The multi-purpose gymnasium was constructed of tiltwall panels with exterior brick accents complementing the existing facility. The interior features a maple wood floor and folding bleacher seating. In addition to indoor sporting events, the gymnasium will host plays, musical shows and other events. A synthetic football/soccer field and baseball and softball fields were constructed on the school grounds to provide space for competitive, educational and extracurricular sporting activities as well as a fieldhouse and concession building.
DPR Starts Hospital in Clear Lake
DPR Construction Inc. recently announced that construction is currently under way on its latest project for the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), a new cardiac care hospital at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center scheduled to open in early 2007. The new four-story, 161,000-sq.-ft. facility will be connected to the existing hospital via a 5,000-sq.-ft. pedestrian bridge and will include 82 beds plus operating rooms, cardiac catheterization labs, a new central plant as well as a new atrium in the existing heart hospital. Perkins+Will is the project architect.
Steele & Freeman to Build Four New Schools in Keller ISD
Steele & Freeman Inc., one of Tarrant County's leading general contracting firms, has been awarded a contract by the Keller Independent School District to build four new schools in fast-growing areas of northern Fort Worth.
The total value of the contract is $59 million. The four schools are projected for completion in summer 2006. Two of the new schools will serve children in the elementary grades. Each will be constructed at a cost of approximately $10.5 million according to a prototype developed by VLK Architects Inc. of Arlington.
The contract calls for the construction, at a total cost of $34 million, of an intermediate school and a middle school on a large Keller ISD-owned parcel of land.
VLK is the architect for the middle school, with Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford of Fort Worth. supplying the plans for the intermediate school.
McCarthy Maintains Presence in Rio Grande Valley
McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. recently began the $2.2 million renovation of 14,000 sq. ft. of outpatient services space at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. The project presents the fourth opportunity for McCarthy to work with Knapp Medical Center and continues to expand McCarthy's presence in the Rio Grande Valley, where the company is active in healthcare, education and transportation construction.
In 2004 McCarthy completed & two-story, 32,000-sq.-ft. Knapp Medical Center Education & Conference Pavilion. In 2003 the company completed 25,000-sq.-ft. emergency department addition at Knapp Medical Center, the first phase of a $5.8 million addition and renovation project. In 1995, McCarthy completed a $25 million hospital tower expansion on the campus.
The project is expected to be completed in February. The architect for the project is PageSoutherlandPage of Houston.
Bob Moore Completes Cinemark
Bob Moore Construction Inc. of Arlington recently completed Cinemark 12 in Mansfield, marking the 18th theater in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and the first theater ever in Mansfield. The facility is expected to be a centerpiece of the community's expansion. The theater is located in Mansfield Town Center West, a 39-acre retail and office complex owned and operated by Kossman Development Co. of Pittsburgh.
Beck Architecture of Dallas served as the project architect.
The new 42,265-sq.-ft. theater features a large concession area and seating for 2,010. The exterior features a dramatic, full-height stone veneer, the first time such a finish has been used on a Cinemark theater.
Construction Starts on Area's First Toyota Prototype
Construction is under way for the new Toyota of Fort Bend dealership in Richmond. Construction is being handled by Teal Construction of Houston.
The exclusive, full-service dealership will be one of the first in the area to follow the new Toyota facility prototype. The 90,000-sq.-ft. structure will house new and pre-owned sales, an extensive parts department, a fully air-conditioned service department with an underground carbon monoxide system and a state-of-the-art collision center.
The facility was designed with a "mall" atmosphere to encourage relaxed browsing of the latest models, and high-tech design elements are used to differentiate the brands.
Toyota of Fort Bend is owned by Group 1 Automotive, a Fortune 500 specialty retailer and one of the top 10 dealership groups in the country.
